Levels

The tribute changes at public thresholds, and only there. Level 1 starts at $1,000,000 of TVL. Each level starts at twice the TVL of the level before it and pays half the tribute.

Levels continue past 10 on the same rule, with no cap, until the pool is exhausted. Nothing in the contract stops at a last level. In practice the arithmetic saturates far below any TVL that could exist, and the mine stops rather than reverting.

Halvings are permanent

The level is stored in the mine and only moves up. If TVL falls back under a threshold it crossed, the level stays and the tribute stays halved. Unstaking everything does not reopen a level. A halving is a one way door.

This is why the mine can quote a rate at all. A rate that could go back up would depend on what everyone else does next, which is the thing the mine is built not to do.

One deposit, several levels

The mine checks the level at the end of every stake. It keeps going deeper while TVL is at or above the next threshold, so one deposit can cross several thresholds in one transaction, emitting one halving for each, in order.

A deposit of $1,200,000 landing on a mine at $900,000 takes TVL to $2,100,000. That crosses levels 1 and 2 at once and leaves the tribute at 0.025 WINZE per $ per day.

A larger one, $3,600,000 onto the same mine, reaches $4,500,000, crosses levels 1, 2, 3 and ends at 0.0125.

The depositor's own tokens count toward the crossing they cause. The amount is added to the token total before the level is re-evaluated. So a deposit that crosses a threshold is made at the old rate and finishes the transaction at the new one.

A price rise can also lift TVL past a threshold. The level then moves on the next interaction with the mine, not at the moment of the price change. Until then the mine emits at the old rate on a larger TVL, which is one of the items in risks.

Rate epochs are public

Every halving appends a rate epoch: the time it starts and the rate per $ per second from then on. The list is public and readable in one call through allEpochs. Settlement integrates a position across every epoch it spans, so time before a halving is paid at the old rate and time after it at the new one.

Exhaustion appends one more epoch, at a rate of zero. The history is therefore complete: the whole life of the mine is readable as a list of spans, with no gaps and nothing inferred.

A position held across a halving

Nothing special happens to a position at a crossing. It is not reset, it does not need touching, and no tribute is lost. The next settlement simply cuts the interval at the halving and pays each piece at its own rate.

Here is a position of $10,000 held for exactly one day, with the crossing to level 1 landing halfway through.

To the wei, computed with the same integration the contract runs. The same day with no halving would have paid 999.999999999999999999.

The lesson is that there is nothing to do at a crossing. You do not need to claim before it, and claiming after it does not cost you the old rate for the time you held at the old rate.
